There is news of great relief for the vehicle owners of Delhi and those getting driving license. Many Regional Transport Offices (RTOs), which were closed to promote digital services after Corona, are now ready to be reopened. The Delhi Transport Department has decided to open an RTO in every district of the city under the restructuring plan.
According to officials, a total of 13 RTO offices will be reopened in Delhi, which will function as per the new district structure. Currently only four RTOs are fully operational. After the implementation of the new system, people will not have to go to far-flung areas for their work and will get facilities at the local level.
Physical facilities along with digital
The Transport Department had made about 90% of the services online in the last few years. This includes work like learning license, DL renewal, duplicate license and vehicle transfer. But there are many services for which physical verification or submission of documents is necessary. Keeping this need in mind, RTO offices are being reopened so that people can get better facilities.
Return of DL-13 series
With this reorganization, a major change is also being made in vehicle registration. Now DL-13 series will be restarted in Delhi, which was closed for the last few years. At the same time, it has been decided to discontinue the currently used DL-14 series. Officials say that this will make the registration process more organized and easier.
Where will new RTOs open?
New RTO offices will be started in Mall Road, Jam Nagar House, Lado Sarai, Hari Nagar, Loni, Sarai Kale Khan, Mayur Vihar, Wazirpur, Dwarka, Raja Garden, Rohini, Burari and other districts. All these offices will work according to the district, so that people can get services in their area only.
When will the services start?
At present the department has started preparations to start all the 13 RTOs. Their timeline will be released soon after the infrastructure, staff and technical arrangements are completed.
