Veteran filmmaker RB Chaudhary died in a horrific road accident near Udaipur on Tuesday. According to reports, the accident occurred around 3 pm on Tuesday (May 5, 2026). No information is yet available about the exact causes of the accident and the condition of the other people involved. RB Choudhary, the founder of the Super Good Films banner, was a film producer who was a well-known name in Tamil cinema since 1988. His mortal remains are being taken to Chennai, where his last rites will be performed tomorrow i.e. on Wednesday.
RB Chaudhary is survived by his wife Mehjabeen and two sons, including actors Jeeva and Jithan Ramesh. His son Jeeva acted in several films made under his own family banner, including Thithikudhe (2003), Ee (2006) and Kacheri Arambam (2010). There is a wave of mourning in the entire film industry.
Archana Kalpathy expressed deep shock over the demise of RB Chaudhary, remembering him as a “great producer” and “a very nice human being”. Superstar Rajinikanth also condoled his demise, writing, “My dear friend RB Choudhary was a great producer and a wonderful human being. He gave opportunities in films to countless young directors. His untimely death has left me in deep shock and grief.”
A legacy spanning decades of Tamil cinema
Vikram made his directorial debut with RB Choudhary’s first Tamil production, Pudhu Vasantham (1990), which won him the Tamil Nadu State Film Award. After this he also supported KS Ravikumar’s debut with Puriyada Pudir (1990). Over the years, he produced several successful films, including Nattamai (1994), Poove Unakkaga (1996), Suryavansham (1997), Thullatha Manmam Thullam (1999), and Anandam (2001).
His subsequent films include Zilla (2014), Godfather (2021), and most recently Marrison (2025). Chaudhary also played an important role in introducing many talents to the industry, including Livingston, Rasu Madhuravan, S. Actors and filmmakers like Ezhil, Perasu and Raj Kumaran are included.
