After the disruption of Indigo flights across the country, the troubles of the passengers were not showing any sign of decreasing. Thousands of people were stranded at the airport, tickets were becoming expensive and travel plans were spoiled. In such a situation, Tata Group’s airline Air India has taken a decision that will provide great relief to the passengers. The company has announced that now passengers can reschedule or cancel their tickets without any charges, that too with a full refund!
The move comes at a time when IndiGo’s technical and operational glitches have created turmoil in the entire aviation sector. This decision of Air India is no less than a big relief for the passengers.
Air India and AI Express capped fares
Air India said it and its subsidiary Air India Express have capped economy fares on all non-stop domestic flights from December 4. This means that demand-supply pricing that increases airfares will not be applicable. This step is considered very important to stop the wave of increased air fares due to IndiGo crisis. Also, both the airlines have started following the new airfare cap rules issued by the Civil Aviation Ministry. The ministry had made it clear on Saturday that any kind of overpricing will not be tolerated.
Passengers got full flexibility
Air India has implemented a special one-time waiver for passengers who had booked tickets by December 4 and planned to travel by December 15, 2025. These passengers will now not be charged any rescheduling fee if they shift their journey to another date. At the same time, if the journey has to be cancelled, they will get 100% refund without any cancellation charge. This facility will be applicable on reschedules or cancellations made till December 8, 2025. However, if there is difference in fare due to rescheduling, it will have to be paid.
