Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) is an investment scheme run by the Central Government. Under Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, an account can be opened for any girl below 10 years of age. Every year you have to deposit at least Rs 250 in SSY account. Under this scheme, you can invest a maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh in a year in the name of your daughter. Investment in this scheme has to be made for 15 years and this account becomes mature after 21 years from the date of opening of the account. If your daughter has turned 18 and you have to marry her, then in such circumstances also you can close your daughter’s account, after which all the money is transferred to your daughter’s bank account.
How much will have to be invested to get Rs 23 lakh on maturity?
Let us tell you that under this scheme of the Central Government, accounts can be opened only for maximum 2 daughters of a family. However, in families where there are twin daughters, accounts can be opened for more than two daughters. You can open Sukanya Samriddhi account in the name of your daughter in any bank or post office of the country. If your daughter is currently 1 year old and you open your daughter’s account under Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana this year, then your daughter can get Rs 23,09,193 when the account matures, for this you will have to invest Rs 50,000 every year for 15 years.
