The method of ticket booking for Indian Railways passengers has changed from March 1, 2026. The UTS mobile app, which was till now used to book unreserved, local train and platform tickets, has been officially discontinued. Its place has now been taken by the new all-in-one app RailOne. The Railways’ IT unit, Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) had announced this on February 27.
UTS app closed, now RailOne is the new platform
CRIS has clarified that from March 1, all the services of UTS app have been transferred to RailOne app. This means that now passengers will have to download RailOne to book unreserved tickets, local tickets and platform tickets. RailOne app was launched by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on 1 July 2025. This app has been designed to provide many facilities to the passengers on a single platform.
What will happen to the money in R-Wallet?
The biggest question is what will happen to the R-Wallet balance present in the UTS app? According to Railways, the amount of R-Wallet will be transferred to RailOne app. But for this it is necessary that you register in RailOne with the same mobile number with which you created the account in the UTS app. Keep in mind, R-Wallet balance is not transferable. That means, if the mobile number is changed, the old balance cannot be used. In such a situation, you can either clear the balance by purchasing a ticket or surrender the wallet and get a refund.
How to surrender R-Wallet?
If you want to close R-Wallet, you will have to go to the ‘Profile’ section of the app and select the Surrender Wallet option. After this a code will come on your registered mobile number. Refund can be availed by visiting any UTS counter with this code and mobile number. However, clerkage charge of Rs 30 will be deducted.
What will be available in RailOne app?
RailOne is a comprehensive app that offers features like live train tracking, complaint lodging, e-Catering, porter booking and last-mile taxis, apart from UTS tickets. Like before, reserved tickets will be available only on IRCTC.
