In the message, using the fake website of a leading national news brand and the name of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, it is being described as a government-backed scheme. But is there really such a scheme? The government itself has come forward and stated the truth of this claim.

As the viral message increased, PIB’s fact check team clarified that this claim is completely fake. The shared image has been generated by AI and neither the Finance Minister nor the Government of India has endorsed any such investment scheme. PIB has appealed to people not to click on such links as it could be a phishing attempt.

In fake advertisements, people are often asked for bank details, OTP or card information. PIB has warned not to share your personal or financial information on any suspicious link. Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System (CFCFRMS) is run under the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs, for speedy redressal of cyber fraud complaints. Calls made on the 1930 helpline reach the police of the concerned state, so that steps like freezing funds can be taken in time.
