If you are going to travel on Yamuna Expressway in the coming days, then there is an important update for you. Now is the time to travel at high speed on Yamuna Expressway. After 12 midnight on 15 February 2026, the maximum speed limit for light vehicles (like cars) will again be 100 kilometers per hour, while for heavy vehicles (trucks, buses etc.) it will be 80 kilometers per hour.
Why was the speed limit reduced?
Due to its location on the banks of Yamuna in winter, dense fog forms, which reduces visibility and increases the risk of accidents. For this reason, from December 15, 2025, the speed limit for light vehicles was fixed at 75 km/h and for heavy vehicles at 60 km/h. This temporary arrangement was in force until the weather improved. Now with the improvement in the weather, the authority has decided to restore the old speed limit.
Yamuna Expressway is 165 kilometers long
According to the news of livehindustan, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority i.e. YEIDA says that from February 15, the old speed limit will come into effect, after which light vehicles will be able to run at a speed of 100 km/hr and heavy vehicles will be able to run at a speed of 80 km/hr. Yamuna Expressway is a total of 165 kilometers long from Greater Noida to Agra. This expressway passes through Gautam Buddha Nagar, Aligarh, Hathras, Mathura and Agra districts.
An average of 35,000 vehicles pass through
On an average, 35,000 vehicles pass on the Yamuna Expressway, while during weekends, festivals or long holidays this number reaches 50 thousand. Cameras have been installed throughout the expressway to strictly monitor speed limit violations. According to a report, an average of 2900 challans are issued daily for speed violations. Commuters are urged to follow the new (old) speed limits, practice safe driving and be alert to fog or other weather-related changes. Safe journey!
6-lane wide expressway
Yamuna Expressway or Taj Expressway is a 6-lane wide (expandable to 8) and access-controlled expressway, connecting Pari Chowk in Greater Noida to Kuberpur on NH-2 in Agra. It was built to reduce congestion on the old Delhi-Agra National Highway (NH-2) or Mathura Road.
