Delhi A very big and important news is coming for millions of poor people living in India. Yes, the work of making new ration cards can start soon in Delhi. According to official data, due to lack of clear rules for many years, more than 3,89,883 applications for ration cards have been pending in Delhi and more than 11,65,965 people are still waiting for benefits under food security. Data verification revealed that the income details of about 6,46,123 people did not match the prescribed norms. Similarly, about 95,682 people remained in the system for a long time without availing any benefits.

Work will start to fill 8,27,756 vacancies

According to official data, around 23,394 double names were found, while in 6185 cases, benefits were registered in the names of deceased persons. About 56,372 people had themselves requested to be taken out of the system. Delhi CM Office said in a statement that due to all these reasons, a total of more than 8,27,756 vacancies were created. Now these vacant spaces will now be filled with those eligible people who have been waiting for ration cards or food security coverage for years. Additionally, the Delhi government has decided to increase the annual income limit from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.20 lakh to increase the number of families eligible for ration cards.

Families with annual income of Rs 1.20 lakh will be eligible for ration card.

The statement said that in order to make Delhi’s food security system more equitable and focused on poor families, in the recent cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, it was decided to increase the annual income limit of families for ration cards. After this decision, families with annual family income up to Rs 1.20 lakh will now be eligible for ration card. Quoting the Chief Minister, the statement said that new food security rules will be implemented in Delhi with the resolve that no one remains hungry.
