During train journey, “Which station will you come to now?”, “Is the train late or not?” Or “Why are there no lights in the coach?” Such questions come in the mind of every traveller. Now to get answers to these questions you will neither have to make long calls nor wait for hours. To further improve the convenience of passengers, Indian Railways has introduced a new and easy solution. Railways has started SMS service on helpline number 139, through which passengers will be able to provide necessary information and register their complaints by sending a simple message.
Till now, passengers had to call 139 to get PNR status, train timings or other information. It took time to connect the call and sometimes there were problems due to network or busyness. In view of this problem, Railways has now started call as well as SMS based service, so that passengers can get information immediately and without hassle.
Focus on the needs of passengers
According to railway officials, this facility has been started keeping in mind the increasing needs of passengers. Earlier, assistance was provided to passengers through 139 call service and ‘Rail Madad’ app. Now with the addition of SMS service, this system has become more easy and effective. Through this service, passengers can get information related to their PNR status, arrival and departure time of the train, current location and operation of the train in just a few seconds.
Complaint immediately through SMS
Not only this, if any kind of problem occurs while traveling in the train or while waiting at the station, passengers can also lodge their complaint through SMS. Information about filth, poor condition of toilets, lack of water, electricity problems or other inconveniences can be directly sent to the Railways. As soon as the SMS of the complaint is received by the railway system, the concerned department employees will be immediately sent for resolution. With this, problems will be solved much faster than before.
