finance The ministry on Wednesday launched ‘Paripurna Mediclaim AYUSH Insurance’ for Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) beneficiaries. The Finance Ministry said in a statement that this optional health insurance scheme will be available as a retail product to all CGHS beneficiaries. This insurance policy will provide indemnity based coverage against hospitalization in India. There are options for sum assured of Rs 10 lakh or Rs 20 lakh.

“Designed to complement existing benefits, this enhanced policy will provide a seamless experience,” the statement said. This will ensure more flexible and widespread access to quality health services across India. This will provide additional financial security and peace of mind to all CGHS beneficiaries.” The Finance Ministry said that this product will have the option of ‘co-payment’, through which beneficiaries can also choose to share the expenses in the ratio of 70:30 or 50:50 between the insurance company and themselves.

Up to 42 percent discount will be available on premium sharing

The ministry said that this policy will be available at a discount of 28 per cent and 42 per cent for 70:30 and 50:50 premium sharing respectively compared to the regular policy. Other features of this policy, offered by government insurance company New India Assurance, include a maximum limit of one per cent per day of the sum insured for normal room and two per cent for ICU.

10 percent cumulative bonus will be given for claim-free year

According to the statement, there will be a cumulative bonus of 10 percent for each claim-free year, which can be up to a maximum of 100 percent of the sum insured. Additionally, expenses incurred 30 days before hospitalization and 60 days after discharge will also be included.
