Keeping in mind the increasing interest in electric vehicles, Tata Motors will launch 5 new electric cars. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) announced this on Tuesday. TMPV said that the company will introduce 5 new electric models by the financial year 2029-30, including the premium product series Avinya. The company wants to maintain its dominant market share of 45-50 percent in the ever-growing electric vehicle segment in the country. Keeping this in mind, it is bringing new models.
Company will invest up to Rs 18,000 crore
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles said it plans to invest Rs 16,000-18,000 crore in the electric vehicle business by financial year 2029-30. This includes installing more than 10 lakh charging points across the country with the product. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of the company, said, “As electric vehicles are being adopted, our commitment is clear. We have to bring electric vehicles into the mainstream by making them accessible across all segments, strengthening the ecosystem and investing in technology and localisation. Similarly, we will continue to lead India’s growing electric vehicle market.
66% of electric cars sold in India are from Tata.
TMPVs account for nearly two-thirds (66 percent) of all electric cars sold in India. The company has the country’s largest electric vehicle portfolio for private transport, which includes Tiago EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV, Curve EV and Harrier EV. Apart from passenger cars, various electric commercial vehicles are also available in Tata’s portfolio. Shailesh Chandra said, “We will provide electric vehicles in all segments so that electric vehicles can be adopted more and more in the mainstream.” He said that the company will launch Sierra EV and new Punch EV next year.
When will Avinya be launched?
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO, TMPV, said, “By the end of 2026, we will launch the much-awaited premium electric vehicle range – Avinya. By FY 2029-30, we will introduce five new electric models including Sierra and Avinya. Along with this, we will also make many more improvements in the existing model.
