There is great news before Christmas for the travelers of Mumbai and surrounding cities. After a long wait, Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is going to start commercial operations from December 25. This airport, which is going to be included among the most modern airports in the country, will not only reduce the pressure on the existing airport of Mumbai, but will also provide a completely digital and smart travel experience to the passengers.
Navi Mumbai Airport will be started phase wise. In the initial phase, limited flights will be operated here, but in the first phase itself this airport will be able to handle about 2 crore passengers annually. There is a plan to increase its capacity to 9 crore passengers in future. This airport, built at a cost of about Rs 19,650 crore, will give new heights to the aviation infrastructure of the Mumbai region.
Free high-speed Wi-Fi access
The biggest feature of NMIA is its digital-first approach. Passengers will enjoy free high-speed Wi-Fi of up to 10 Mbps throughout the terminal. As soon as they are connected to Wi-Fi, passengers will start getting real-time updates through Adani One App, so that every information related to the flight will be immediately available on the mobile.
Every information will be available through virtual assistance
Adani One App will work like a virtual assistant for passengers. In this, flight status, boarding gate, schedule changes, alerts and other important information will be available. Its purpose is to reduce dependence on physical information counters. However, static display boards have also been installed at the airport for the convenience of passengers. Apart from this, through the app, passengers will be able to get information in advance about the food courts, shops, lounges and other facilities present at the airport, so that they can plan their time better.
Strong network even during peak time
The airport’s Wi-Fi network is designed in such a way that connectivity remains stable even during rush hour. Facilities like digital payment, cab booking, messaging, email and video calls will be available without any interruption.
BSNL will provide network support
NMIA has partnered with BSNL for network services. Under the ‘Made in India’ initiative, BSNL will provide indigenous 4G network here, which is 5G-ready. This network will provide voice and data services for passengers, staff and airport operations.
