India The government has notified the “Natural Gas and Petroleum Products Distribution Order, 2026” to strengthen the natural gas infrastructure and promote ease of doing business. The order has been issued under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 and provides a time-bound and transparent mechanism for laying, expanding and operating gas pipelines across the country.

The order will reduce the delay in approval of pipeline projects

This order of the government will reduce delays in approval of pipeline-related projects, simplify processes and provide more clear and predictable rules for investors. With this, authorized companies will get easy and uninterrupted access to lay and expand pipelines in different areas.

CGD network and PNG connection will expand rapidly

This initiative of the government will rapidly expand the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections. This will promote the use of clean fuel in homes, transportation and industries. The government says this will strengthen energy security, expand gas infrastructure and help move the country towards a clean, gas-based economy.
