To stop black marketing of tickets, Railways has made major changes in the refund rules. Now, on cancellation of tickets, passengers will not get the full amount refunded as before, rather the refund will be deducted based on time. According to the new rules, if a passenger cancels the ticket 8 hours before the scheduled departure time of the train, he will not get any kind of refund. However, if the ticket is canceled between 24 hours to 8 hours, only 50% of the amount will be refunded. Additionally, if the ticket is canceled 72 hours in advance, the passenger will get a refund of up to 75%. The new rules will be applicable between April 1 and April 15.
Earlier almost full refund was given
Earlier, if tickets were canceled 72 hours or earlier, passengers would get almost full refund. But now with the implementation of these new rules, efforts are being made to curb black marketing, so that tickets can be easily available to common passengers.
You will be able to cancel your ticket from any station
Under the new provisions, now passengers will be able to cancel their tickets from any station in offline mode. With this, passengers will not have to be limited to the same station from where the ticket was booked. Apart from this, passengers will now be given the facility to board the train from any further station other than the departure station. For this, there will be an option to update the boarding station in the mobile app, which will make the journey more flexible.
Option to change coach and class up to 30 minutes in advance
Not only this, now passengers will also be able to update their seats. Option to change coach and class will be given up to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the train. This means that if passengers wish, they will be able to upgrade their seats from 3rd AC to 1st AC. These new features aim to provide passengers with greater convenience, flexibility and a better travel experience. Railways has recently taken many important decisions keeping the passengers in mind.
