Noida International Airport (Jewar Airport) being built in Uttar Pradesh is soon going to be connected to major cities of Delhi-NCR through high-speed road connectivity. The Central Government has approved a revised budget of ₹3630 crore for this ambitious project. After this decision, the construction work of the Greenfield Corridor connecting Jewar Airport to Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is expected to accelerate. It is believed that after the completion of this project, reaching the airport from Noida, Faridabad and Gurugram will become easier than before.
New expressway will be 31 kilometers long
Under this project, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is building a six-lane greenfield expressway of approximately 31 kilometers long. This expressway will directly connect Jewar Airport to the Delhi-Faridabad-Ballabhgarh-Sohna spur of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. 24.1 km portion of this corridor is being built in Haryana and about 7.3 km portion is being built in Jewar region of Uttar Pradesh. This road project will play an important role in improving the traffic and logistics system in Delhi-NCR.
Why did the project cost increase?
This project is being built under Bharatmala scheme. Initially its cost was estimated to be around ₹2414 crore. But due to the need to build elevated roads at many places in the Haryana region, the cost increased. After this, the Central Government approved the revised budget, due to which now there will be no financial hindrance in the construction work.
Direct connection will also be available from Yamuna Expressway
Jewar Airport will also be connected to Yamuna Expressway through this Greenfield Expressway. For this, an interchange has been built near Dayanatpur village, which will be ready in 2025 itself. After the commencement of this interchange, people of Noida, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Greater Noida, Agra and Mathura will also get direct road connectivity to the airport. This will save both time and fuel for passengers.
Work almost complete in Gautam Buddha Nagar
According to officials, the 7.3 kilometer stretch in Gautam Buddha Nagar district has been almost completely constructed. This part has been prepared on the land of six villages. However, only about 65 percent work has been completed in Haryana region. Due to pollution in Delhi-NCR, construction work had slowed down for some time due to GRAP implemented. Now it is expected that this entire expressway will be ready by June 2027.
