Renault acquires full ownership of Chennai manufacturing plant

Fabrice Cambolive said India has been a key market for Renault’s growth outside Europe and it is pursuing its growth plans after acquiring full ownership of the Chennai manufacturing plant. Renault Group had acquired 51 percent stake of the Chennai plant from Nissan a few months ago, after which it now has full ownership of this plant. “Today, we are starting our new chapter for the Indian market with the launch of the new Duster,” said Camboliv. The new Duster was introduced by Renault India with the options of hybrid engine and turbo engine and described it as the most powerful vehicle in the mid-size SUV segment.

The price of new Duster can be increased in March

The company has not yet disclosed its price and it can be announced in March. On this occasion, Renault India CEO Stéphane DeBlaze said that the new Duster has been designed keeping in mind the preferences of Indian customers. Renault first launched Duster in the Indian market in July 2012. This vehicle played an important role in creating a new segment of SUV in the country. But, due to intense competition and not being able to meet customer demand, the production of this model was stopped in 2022. Renault India currently sells three models in the Indian market, Kwid, Triber and Kiger and is hoping to increase its share in the Indian market after the introduction of the new Duster.
